1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using OwnCheck ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
OwnCheck is an inventory management and impulse spending prevention app that helps you:
- Track items you own
- Manage shopping lists with cool-down timers
- Receive AI-powered spending insights
- Build mindful purchasing habits
3. Account and Subscriptions
Free Features
The App offers free features including inventory tracking, basic shopping lists, and limited AI interactions.
Pro Subscription
OwnCheck Pro unlocks additional features. Subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
- Subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings
4. User Content
You retain ownership of all content you create within the App, including inventory items, notes, and photos. You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of your content.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer or modify the App
- Interfere with the App's functionality or security
- Share AI-generated content in a way that violates any laws
6. AI Features
The App includes AI-powered features (Thrifty Chat, smart categorization, receipt scanning). These features:
- Are provided for informational purposes only
- Should not be relied upon for financial or legal decisions
- May produce incorrect or inappropriate responses
You acknowledge that AI responses are generated by third-party services (Google Gemini) and we are not responsible for their accuracy.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, OwnCheck and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Musa Masalla and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
9. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of South Africa, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
